Belly dancing is a traditional North African and Middle Eastern cultural dance style. What is Belly Dancing?

Belly dancing is a western term for Raqs Sharki, which originated in Ancient Egypt and is known as one of the oldest dance styles.
In this dance style, we teach you how to do isolated torso and hip movements, from fluid circles and figure 8s into strong accents of both hips and torso. These form the foundation and basis of the different styles within Raqs Sharki.
The main style focus for the class is Egyptian oriental as it forms the basic foundation for other styles within belly dancing. Included in the class are learning the different Raqs Sharki rhythms and various dance props such as veils, candle tray, shamadan, cane, swords, etc.
The main takeaway from the class is understanding that each body moves differently and appreciating that uniqueness.
