Our Instructors

Alissa Steyl

Owner

Although I am the owner of the dance studio and extensively involved in the admin side I love to teach my Latin & Ballroom, Lindy Hop & Wedding lessons.
I have been teaching since 2007 part-time while finishing my studies for my certificate in Graphic Design and BComm in Marketing Management. Although I performed in school productions and did some Irish dancing I had no previous experience in partner dancing (that means you can also start after high school!)
I am trained in both American/Social and International style for Latin & Ballroom and was mentored by Dave Campbell.
I am currently competing in Championship level for Ballroom dancing with Adrian to ensure my own dancing remains up to standard and to improve my teaching skills.
Although I love dancing, I am a teacher at heart. I love sharing knowledge and finding new ways to teach my students.

I have always wanted to be able to dance, but my two left feet have stopped me, but after doing a few classes at Five6seven8 they have shown my feet right from wrong and that turned into a few live performances.

Lizanne le grange

CHR Officer / Acro, Burlesque, Contemporary & Modern Instructor
I have been lucky enough to be dancing in some form my entire life. I started at the age of 3 with classical ballet, modern, and tap, and then acrobatics and gymnastics a few years later. In high school I started Latin and Ballroom dancing, completing my teachers training in 2008. I joined the UJ dance company in 2010 and was exposed to a multitude of styles from Cabaret, Urban Funk, Jazz, and Contemporary. I was definitely the worst at HipHop! I have a postgraduate degree in Anatomy and Biological Anthropology but prefer being in the dance studio all day.

Kaylin Barber

Tap Instructor

I started dancing at the tender age of 3 when the Razzle Dazzle of a Ballet class captivated me. Who could resist the charm of a little pink tutu?

I started dancing more seriously at the age of 8 when I began my training in Tap and Modern dance. I competed in many eisteddfods, showcases, and exams through the years, and dancing never seemed to lose its charm. I still attend numerous classes in various dance styles and love the thrill of performing on stage!

I am now a qualified Tap dance instructor with the Association of Internal Dance Teachers (AIDT) and continue my studies by learning as much as I can about music, anatomy, and various dance styles. The creativity and talent out there never ceases to amaze me.
