What is Sokkie & Two Step?

Sokkie and Two Step are two of South Africa’s most loved social partner dances and are a big part of Afrikaans culture and social gatherings.

Sokkie is known for its relaxed and flowing movements, making it easy for beginners to learn while still allowing experienced dancers to add their own style. It is commonly danced to Afrikaans pop music and is popular at parties, weddings and social events. If you would like to start learning the basics, you can watch the Sokkie Soutie tutorials on YouTube, where Matthew Pienaar breaks down popular sokkie moves and combinations.

Two Step is a rhythmic partner dance that focuses on timing, connection and smooth turns. It can be danced to a variety of music styles and helps dancers develop coordination and confidence on the dance floor.

Together, these classes offer a fun way to experience South African dance culture, stay active and enjoy social dancing in a welcoming environment.
