On Saturday, 6 December, the stage at Wits Theatre will come alive with The Ruins of Light, a spectacular dance production performed by the students of Five6seven8 Dance Studio. This year, we proudly present two unique shows in one day: a magical Kids Show and a powerful Adults Show, each telling the same story of light and darkness in different ways.
✨ Kids Show: A Magical Adventure

The Kids Show is a vibrant dance tale where heroes and villains face off in a whimsical world of acrobatics, ballet, Latin, K-Pop, street, shuffling, and more. With every scene, our young dancers bring beloved characters to life — Simba, Moana, Rapunzel, Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Cruella, and more.
But just when it seems a dance-off will decide the winner, a hidden treasure changes everything. Good and evil are turned upside down, only to remind us all that it’s not about winning — it’s about the joy of dancing together. A heartwarming family experience not to be missed.
🌑 Adults Show: A Darker Dance Tale
Showtimes: 15h30 & 18h00
The Adults Show dives deeper into the legend, weaving a tale of hubris, betrayal, and redemption. Blending contemporary, hip hop, tango, Latin, ballet, heels, line dancing, and more, our dancers embody a powerful struggle between heroes and villains.
The battles are fierce, betrayals cut deep, and victory seems uncertain. Yet from the ruins, the truth emerges: neither light nor dark can exist alone — balance is the only way forward. This gripping performance promises to leave the audience inspired and reflective long after the final curtain call.

Participation Fees
- Studio Members: R650 + R350 per costume
- Non-Members: R1500 + R350 per costume
What’s Included
- Rehearsals every Friday & Saturday for 11 weeks (starting 12 September)
- The chance to perform in multiple scenes and explore different dance styles
- Dress rehearsals at the studio on 21 & 28 November
- Full dress rehearsal at Wits Theatre on 5 December
- Show day performance on 6 December

A full rehearsal schedule below. Dancers are expected to attend consistently to ensure performance quality.
🔑 Important Information for Performers
- Attendance Policy: A minimum of 85% attendance is required (only 2–3 rehearsals may be missed).
- Makeup & Hair Guidelines: Will be provided per scene in October.
- Costume Ordering Deadlines: Costume payments due no later than 1 October.
- Tickets for Families: Families can buy tickets through Webtickets. Dancers will remain backstage for the duration of the show.
