Celebrating Success: Our Students Shine at Global Dance Supremes Gauteng Qualifiers

On May 11th, the Blairgowrie Recreational Centre buzzed with electrifying energy as our hip hop students took to the stage at the Global Dance Supremes Gauteng qualifiers. This event marked a significant milestone for many of our dancers, with some stepping into the competitive hip hop scene for the first time. Our school proudly entered three crews into the competition, each delivering stellar performances that showcased their dedication and talent.

Nightshades – Adults: Open Crew Sections – Championship Division
Competing in the highly competitive Championship Division, our adult crew, Nightshades, put on a memorable performance that secured them a commendable 6th place. The team, composed of Amy Green, Kristen Tameriah, Jayden van Tonder, Megan Vogel, Claire Zoghby, and Nikaila Naidoo, displayed remarkable synchronization and creativity. Their hard work and passion were evident in every move, making their first competition experience a notable success.

Tribers – Teens: Mini Crew Section – Championship Division
The Tribers, representing our teenage dancers, competed in the Mini Crew Section of the Championship Division and achieved an impressive 3rd place. Lesedi Selepe, Jada Masilela, and Madyson Els captivated the judges and audience with their high-energy routine and precise choreography. Their outstanding performance not only earned them a podium finish but also highlighted their potential for future competitions.

Lil Tribers – Juniors: Mini Crew Section – Championship Division
Our youngest crew, Lil Tribers, entered the Mini Crew Section of the Championship Division and clinched 4th place. This talented group, consisting of Liam Naidoo, Amore Marais, Peyton Govender, and Laranya Pillay, showed incredible enthusiasm and skill. For many of these young dancers, it was their first taste of competitive hip hop, and they delivered a performance that promises a bright future in dance.

Qualifying for the Inter-Continental Battle Finals
Adding to the excitement of their achievements, all three crews have qualified to compete at the prestigious Inter-Continental Battle Finals in Cape Town later this year. This qualification is a testament to their exceptional talent and hard work, providing them with an incredible opportunity to compete on a larger stage against some of the best dance crews from around the world.
