Join Our First Jack n Jill Competition at Till L8 Swing Dance Party!

We’re thrilled to announce that our next Till L8 Swing Dance Party will feature South Africa’s very first Jack & Jill competition! This is an informal, lighthearted event designed to capture the playful spirit of social dancing — perfect for anyone curious to try a friendly competition for the first time.

🎯 What is a Jack & Jill?

Jack & Jill competitions are a staple in West Coast Swing communities worldwide — and now we’re bringing it to Johannesburg! Here’s how it works:

You’ll enter as a Lead or Follow (no need to bring a partner).
Your name is drawn, and you’re randomly paired with a partner for the round.
You’ll dance to one slow song and one fast song together — choose the section you wish to enter; Sokkie/Boogie, Mix of Styles (Latin, Ballroom, SBK) or West Coast Swing
The focus isn’t on technique — it’s on musicality, connection, and entertainment value!

🏆 Competition Format

Because we expect more Follows than Leads:

Prelims: Strongest Follows will be selected to move through to the main rounds.
Main Rounds: Both Leads and Follows will be judged and gradually eliminated until we have our finalists.
Partner Rotation: You’ll dance with different partners each round to keep things fun and fair.

🎭 Judging Criteria

Our judges will be regular audience members with no formal dance background — they’re looking purely for entertainment!

They’ll be scoring based on:
✅ Musicality & creativity
✅ Partner connection
✅ Showmanship & fun factor
✅ Overall entertainment

This is a gentle, low-pressure entry into competition — perfect for anyone wanting to try something new in a supportive atmosphere.

🕖 Time: 19h00 (replacing the usual Till L8 Swing Dance Party group class)
💰 Entry Fee: R50 (pay online here)
👀 Spectators: Standard Till L8 Swing Dance Party entry applies
